Friday Night Activity on August 14th at 6pm

We will be getting together at the Old Town Pocatello Pavilion at 420 N. Main Street at 6pm for a family picnic. There is a nice covered area with plenty of picnic tables. This event will be catered by Del Monte Meats. They will be doing a baked potato bar which will include a baked potato, sour cream, chili, bacon bits, onions, butter, chives, cheese sauce, broccoli, a green salad, a cookie and drinks for a total of $8.50 per person. The food should be really great! We have to have a final count a week prior SO PLEASE PAY BEFORE AUGUST 6th. You can pay via paypal through the link on the blog. In case you don't like potatoes feel free to bring your own food for your family. We are hopefully going to be having live entertainment by fellow classmates.

Classmate Update: Tierenie Adams Fry

Some of you know that I had already joined the military my senior year of school into the delayed entree program. After graduation I headed to Basic Training Aug 17th along with Cassondra Peckham. We spent 6 weeks living the grand life in hot, San Antonio Texas, being molded into an Airman. After graduation of Basic in October, I was sent to Biloxi Mississippi to Keesler Air Force Base for Tech. School to learn my job. I spent 8 weeks down there, discovered San Antonio had nothing on good ol Mississippi when it came to the heat. The humidity was sure something else. After completion of school the Air Force sent me to Mountain Home Air Force Base. I had to laugh, I had joined the military to get out of Idaho for awhile and they ended up sending me back. Funny how things happen sometimes. My job was Information Management/IT Specialist. I basically worked with computers. I troubleshot problems, established networks, email accounts, installed hardware/software, built computers, etc. You know a computer geek. (smile) I also did administrative support on the side for our Squadron Commander. I completed my active duty enlistment in Aug 2003 with an Honorable Discharge. I received 4 medals and several awards.
After leaving the military I moved to North Idaho. Coeur d'Alene was beautiful. Nothing like southern Idaho. My family had moved there while I was in the military. I met my husband in 2005. We had a beautiful daughter on Thanksgiving day of 2006. She was our little Turkey baby. In 2007 my husband decided to join the military. We are currently living in Germany. We have been here since Dec 2007. I truly love it over here. The language barrier was hard at first but it's getting easier. I have met some awesome people over here. I have also been able to see some old friends I used to work with. The funny thing is Cassondra Peckham Slaughter and her family are now over here also. We haven't seen each other since we left Basic Training graduation. It's pretty cool.
The culture is unbelievable over here. I have been to France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria and of Course Germany and counting. Europe is truly beautiful. We have castles less than 5 miles from our home. There is never a dull moment living over here. Between sight seeing and taking in the every day life style I have come to truly, truly love Europe! I'm still working on a degree, completed some school while in the military but life has just led me in so many other directions. I have the money from my GI Bill the military gave me and it's not going anywhere, so in time I will get it finished. Along side of living in Germany I am in the process at the moment of trying to buy a business from a friend back in Coeur d'Alene Idaho. If all goes well I will own a tanning salon come next month. I have always thought it would be fun to have one. So I am checking it out. Well, there you have it. My life for the last 10 years in a nut shell. I feel like I'm just a free spirited person taking life in and letting it guide me. Hope everyone has been well these last 10 years. Unfortunately, do to living so far away I will not be attending the reunion. I have too much going on right now. It would be nice to see you all, but it's just not in the cards this time. Perhaps our 20 year reunion. Take Care Everyone!

Classmate Update: Ben Millard

I am now stationed in Eastern Afghanistan. I have been waiting until I actually got to Afghanistan before I started talking about it too much. I've been here for a few weeks now. I am stationed in one of the Provincial Reconstructin Teams (PRTs) as a Civil Affairs team chief.

As for the family, we are doing great. I married a girl named Julie Nelson. She is from Tetonia, ID - that's up by Driggs. We have 3 kids now, Aiden, Abi and Payson. She is currently living in Rexburg while I am deployed, but we were living in Provo before where I was working on a Masters of Linguistics from BYU. That's a nice short overview of what's going on with me. Unfortunately, won't be able to make the reunion. I hope it goes well.
